We empower our Members through networking, education, support, connection and celebration.

About Te Manu Atatū

We are the Māori business network representing
the wider Whanganui region and surrounding Iwi
boundaries. Our network was established in 2003
to support the growth and development of new,
emerging and established Māori businesses and
professionals.

Te Manu Atatū means ‘the early bird’, the one that
always gets the worm. We believe that being the
first to identify opportunities and being the first to
act on them is what makes our network and sets
our members up for success.

Start-Up Support

The network offers guidance through the early stages of business development with access to mentoring, capability building, and tailored workshops that reflect Māori values and aspirations. By connecting start-ups with funding opportunities, experienced advisors, and a strong community of like-minded Māori business owners, Te Manu Atatū empowers new ventures to grow in a culturally grounded and sustainable way.

Opportunities and Growth

For existing Māori businesses, Te Manu Atatū offers strategic support to help unlock growth opportunities and strengthen long-term success. The network connects businesses with development pathways including advanced training, export readiness, and access to new markets—both local and global. Through whakawhanaungatanga and collaboration, members benefit from shared knowledge, collective experience, and partnerships that align with Māori values. Whether it’s scaling operations, innovating products and services, or expanding networks, Te Manu Atatū stands alongside Māori businesses to help them thrive and grow with confidence.
