Unique Whanganui Experience is managed by Marama Akapita and led by Managing Director Hayden Potoka, supported by a team of Awa Navigators. Each navigator has taken part in the Tira Hoe Waka wānanga, carries deep iwi knowledge, and holds a strong connection to the Whanganui River. They’re also trained in swift water rescue and have current first aid certifications. Our lead Awa Navigators, Lulu and Hone, have a natural gift for bringing people together, turning groups of individuals into lasting friends. Most journeys begin with formal handshakes and end with hugs all around. Every experience is truly unique. Staying true to this Kaupapa, we’re delivering a high-quality food experience within a relaxed, outdoor camping environment, combining the comforts of great kai with the beauty and simplicity of life on the awa. It’s all about enjoying delicious meals surrounded by nature, good company, and the unique atmosphere of the river.
